Parks and Recreation

Kids can enjoy everything from swimming lessons to craft times and picnics to sports-themed activities. Every summer, there is so much available, just these programs are often enough to keep kids from getting bored over the summer.

Hiking

Pack up a picnic lunch and bring plenty of water with you when you take a hike to the Frenchman Mountain Trail. This trail offers breathtaking views and is only 3.5 miles long. If you don’t mind driving a bit, head on down to Henderson and explore the Wetlands Park Nature Preserve Loop to see some wildlife. These are just two of the many hiking trails available throughout North Las Vegas.

Libraries

Though the libraries in the area may remain closed, they are offering a bunch of Virtual Programs and Curbside Pick Up. Check out Las-Vegas Clark County Libraries and North Las Vegas Library for more details about current services.

Backyard Water Fun

Break out the water hosts, put up the kiddie pools, and fill up those water balloons. It is summer time and that means you can have a lot of fun in the comfort of your own backyard. Put on your swimsuits, sunscreen, and break out all the water toys. Kids love being outside and playing with water. No matter how old or young your kids are, backyard water fun is sure to be a hit this summer.

Picnics

Make plans to get out of the house and have some fun with a traditional picnic. Use cookie cutters to make cute finger sandwiches, pack some pretzels, and baggies of fruits and vegetables. Make it an entire day activity by having the kids help out with the preparing of the picnic, then tossing a ball around at the park after eating. There are plenty of picnic spots, make sure to find one that has other things to do and keep the kids busy all afternoon.

Bike Trails

Pull out the bikes and map out a route for your next bike ride. Find a new bike trail to explore. Bike rides are perfect in the late afternoon when things start cooling off again just before sunset. Bike rides offer a fun activity for the family and help wear out the little ones for bedtime.

No matter what you plan to do this summer, you and the kids are going to have a great time. This is because you will be doing it together. Many of these activities get you out of the house and make it possible to enjoy while still practicing safe social distancing.

Have fun this summer and enjoy it!
